What is the Hepatitis B Core Antibody? 

This is a protein that is produced in your body in response to the condition Hepatitis B. This particular antibody is one that is a protein made by your immune system in response to the infection that is in your body. When your immune system detects any infectious agent it starts to make antibodies. These antibodies will bind to the components of the pathogen, or infection, and then will either kill the infection or inactivate it.

What is the Hepatitis B Core

There are many different parts that make up the composition of Hepatitis B. The core is just one portion of the virus and cannot be found in your blood. It is only present in an infected patient's liver. This particular antibody is the first one made by the immune system in response to a Hepatitis B infection. Because of this, it is often used as a screening test for Hepatitis B and can also be used to diagnose acute cases of this infection.

What is Hepatitis B and the Symptoms?

Hepatitis is an inflammation of your liver that is caused by a virus. This type of Hepatitis has very few symptoms but some of the symptoms include:

• Fatigue or tiredness
• Fevers
• Loss of appetite
• Vomiting, nausea
• Diarrhea
• Headache
• Itchy skin
• Muscle soreness, pain under the lower right side of your rib cage near your liver.
• Jaundice which is yellowing of the whites of your eyes and skin
• Dark urine
• Light stools

What Does hep B Core Antibody Positive Mean?

After donating blood, you may get a letter from the blood bank telling you that you are hepatitis B core antibody pain in left armpit positive but that is noting that you need to have a panic attack over. It does not even mean that you have hepatitis B but that you could have a present infection. It may even mean that in the past you had a Hepatitis B infection. There is also a possibility that you have a false diagnosis. You do need to make an appointment with your physician for a more thorough screening to see why you have this diagnosis.

Treatment for Hepatitis B

If you are diagnosed with Hepatitis B there is an immunization shot for this condition. The immunizations are given in three doses at certain times.

• Infants--the first is given within twelve hours of birth, the second immunization is given at one to two months, and the third immunization is given six months after the first dose.
• Adults-the first immunization can be given at any time, with the second immunizations given at least one month later and the third immunization is given six months after the first dose.

In order to be protected from the virus it is very important to follow the immunization schedule.
